Shattered the dream of America’s Mario Deslauriers, who won the title 26 years ago in Gothenburg, the thrilling final in the Palexpo Arena in Geneva, Switzerland, highlighted some great characters and new arrivals, with Germany’s Marcus Ehning winning the 2010 Rolex FEI World Cup Jumping Final.
Mario had victory in sight coming into the last round, only to see it slip from his grasp in the fading moments.
Despite an early mistake, Ehning kept a cool head and came through when those ahead of him faltered. It was his third win for the World Cup title.
The Germans dominated the winners podium when Ludger Beerbaum produced one of just four double-clear performances on the last day, joining Switzerland’s Pius Schwizer.
